The inspiration for this book began on June 12, 2009. Author Laverne Marie Stewart was at a women’s retreat. At 5 a.m. she was alone in her room spending time in quiet meditation. She was thinking about her frustration over various works of fiction which she hasn't been able to complete. She asked “Why?”

She heard a voice say: “You have not been called to write fiction. You have been called to write the truth.”

She looked around her room. She knew the door was locked and that there was no one else with her. Then she had a very clear sense that she was supposed to write a book about angels and the afterlife. She had no idea where to turn next.

As a journalist, with over 25 years experience, she decided to do some research. Did she really hear what she thought she'd heard?

She contacted two spiritual mediums who told her they had seen this book being written six months before she'd contacted them. She wondered how to approach this subject. She didn't know anything about angels or the afterlife. The mediums told her not to worry about it because the angels had everything under control.They did.

In the nine months that followed she was overwhelmed by the number of people who came to her to share their stories. The writing of this book has been an incredible journey for Ms. Stewart.

"I have met and interviewed dozens of people from all faiths in Canada and internationally who have shared their angelic encounters as well as their experiences with the spirits of the deceased. I have interviewed spiritual mediums and people, like me, who don’t claim have any intuitive abilities but who have had encounters with the other side and with angels. I have spoken to people who received healing and encouragement from angelic encounters, those who say the spirits of their deceased children come to them as well as adult children whose elderly parents said they heard, saw and felt angels in the minutes before they crossed over to the other side."

Angels and the Afterlife contains the many stories of people whose lives were saved by beings that others could not see. There are heart-felt stories from people whose lives have been changed forever by their encounters.

Ms. Stewart adds: "I know that this book is divinely inspired and that the angels have made this happen. I have simply been the ears that listened to the stories and the fingers that typed the words. The end result is a book of about 220 pages and a front cover photo, by Judy Gaudrea, which some say is evidence that angels and spirits are here with us."

This book is meant to help many to escape the bonds that hold them back. We are living in a very precarious time. Many people live in great fear. They fear disease, economic crisis and wars. Some even fear the possibility of armageddon.

The message that Ms. Stewart received while writing this book is that the angels and guides are here to love us unconditionally where we are, no matter what our circumstance.

It doesn't matter what we believe or don't believe. It doesn't matter what we have done or have failed to do. It doesn't matter what our religious views are. We are loved unconditionally. We all can live full, happy, healthy lives if we only reach out and ask for it.

There is nothing to fear. In the end, when our lives are over, we all go home because heaven doesn't discriminate against anyone for any reason.
